SR002 Copyshop - Panem Et Circenses

Fred Berthet has been mixing in Paris and Aix-en-Provence mixes since the early 90's, and finally Marseille where he settled since 1997. During this period, he met Pierre, Yann and Marc. Together, they created the sound system Biomix (organizer of “Electronic Territories” Festival, later known as “Second Nature”)

After composing many maxi-singles under the pseudonyms Pelican (Omnisonus rec) and Venus Attack Project (on the label US Guidance), he met DJ Oil and Arnaud Taillefer. Together, they created the band known as the Troublemakers.

After an over-welcomed first LP (" Doubts & Convictions " on Guidance rec), and a second one on Blue Note (“Express Way”), Fred decided to put the band aside. Then he focused his attention on Copyshop (with Arnaud Pilard aka Geisha): a more “electro” project, influenced by the 80’s, and a prolific artistic collaboration giving birth to a LP (" Reproduction lp " in 2004) and many maxi-singles on the label Blackjack and Bearfunk.

In his projects or in solo, during live shows and dj sets, he toured in the best stages and clubs in Europe, as well as in Asia, North America and Africa. Ultimately, he has involved himself in the image by realising cinemixes.

Leading many projects at the same time, he signs edits of vintage songs like « Planet Caravan » of Black Sabbath (with the English label Magic Wand) under the word playing name of DJ Steef. He collaborates with the artist from Marseille John Deneuve (for the project Cancan) or with the electro-pop singer Naommon. He teams up with Munk, freshly installed in Marseille, the creator, co-producer, remixer and disc promoter of the label Gomma.

His new project -and also the most promising- is the re-opening of Copyshop, due to artistic encounter with a new accomplice, Snem K.:  this polyglot singer from Aix en Provence with a large musical universe and inspired french, english, Spanish or even latin lyrics, finds again the mic after a long musical eclipse to free his powerful voice. This is the perfect occasion for Fred to synthesize his musical roots such as 80’s electro pop, poisonous disco, classy french influences, insistent downtempo and up warding house...
